There are so many different options when it comes to window treatments; the possibilities are infinite when you think about it. It’s relatively easy to find a window treatment that fits within your price range, but sometimes people prefer to spent egregious amounts to completely customize their treatments from start to finish. Today we have examples of some luxurious treatments that are the most expensive to date.
Marie Antoinette’s Curtains:
In Los Angeles, the Fleur de Lys is one of the most expansive mansions in the entire city. It’s estimated worth is nearly 125 million dollars; this includes 12 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms and a theater that can accommodate over fifty people. It also has a pool house, a gym and a ballroom, among many other things.
The interior of the house is embedded with 24-karat gold; some of the rooms feature window treatments that have been designed by the former Queen of France, Marie Antoinette. Her thirst for luxurious goods is said to have helped spark the French Revolution.
The Swarovski Chrystal Curtain:
At the Academy Awards in 2009, guests got some extra glamour during the show. A 60-foot custom designed Swarovski crystal curtain was the talk of the show. It contained over 100,000 individual crystals, can you say luxurious?
The $6,000 Shower Curtain:
Former Tyco International’s chairman, Dennis Kozolwski got in a lot of trouble in 2002. He was accused of defrauding Tyco out of over $600 million. One of the things he said to have spent his money on was a $6,000 window curtain that was primarily woven out of gold.
Actress Elizabeth Taylor has lauded by film critics for decades for her role in the classic film “Cleopatra.” In 2012, the trailer used in this film by Taylor went up for sale. This trailer had rose colored carpet, detailed crown moldings, hand painted ceilings and columned furniture.
Out of all the luxurious amenities in this trailer, there was one that really stood out. It had beautiful silk curtains that were used to divide the bedroom and the living room; these curtains had an Egyptian aura around them to make Taylor feel just like Cleopatra.
